The Labor Department is part of the various administrative departments within the government. At the government level, its highest-ranking official is the Principal Secretary of Labor. In the state of Uttar Pradesh, the Labor Department employs individuals at different levels to address issues faced by workers in factories, industries, and various schemes throughout the state.
The Labour Commissioner serves as the head of the labor organization in Uttar Pradesh, overseeing the Department of Labor. The Uttar Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board was established in accordance with the rules set forth in the Building and Other Construction Workers (Employment and Service) Act of 1996, which mandates the formation of a State Welfare Board. This welfare board was established under Rule 256 of the 2009 Regulations provided in the 1996 act.
